Of Human Interest...

Some years ago, a German scientist counted the hairs on different human heads. He found that they vary in number, depending on hair color. He reported that more hair is found on a person with black hair than red hair, more on brown than black, and more on blonde than brown. For example, a black-haired woman has about 110,000 hairs on her head and a blonde has around 140,000.

He also found that the average woman with a thick head of hair will lose up to 100 hairs per day. Such losses are increased if the hair is long and becomes entangled in a brush or comb. The average man, shaving every day, removes a beard about 1/64 inch in length. This means that between the ages of 20 and 65, he’s capable of removing 23 feet of beard.

(By the way, the scientist offering this information had nothing to say about being hairless or baldheaded.)

Statistics like these can be fascinating, yet the real message to have, know, and appreciate comes from Matthew chapter 10 verse 30: “But even the hairs of your head are all numbered… you are of more value than many sparrows” and Luke 21:18: “But not a hair of your head will perish”… that no harm will come to you as you place your faith, trust, and confidence –even your very lives (not to mention your hairs) in His (God’s) hands. And the beauty of these statistics is expressed in God’s all-knowing, omniscient, love for us.

Hairs are but a graphic image of His great care over us more exactly expressed in His Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

So, remember the hairs on your head when washing them, combing them, and considering them -for God is telling you something important and of value to Him.

THE IMPORTANCE OF WALKING…

Walking can add minutes to your life. This will enable you at 85 years old to spend an additional 5 months in a nursing home at $8000 per month.

My grandmother started walking five miles a day when she was 60. Now she’s 97 years old and we don’t know where she is!

I joined a health club last year, spent about 400 bucks. Haven’t lost a pound. Apparently you have to go there.

I like long walks, especially when they’re taken by people who annoy me.

Walking may help if you have flabby thighs, but fortunately my stomach covers them.

And finally, if you’re going to try cross-country skiing this winter (instead of walking), start with a small country.
