October 2026 / TEMPTATION! Every day, you face temptations. Many times, these are temptations to sin - to violate God’s commands in Scripture. Besides the temptation to eat a piece of chocolate cake or to accept an offer to meet with friends for an evening out on the town, Scripture is clear that we will face real temptations to sin against God’s will. So, how does one deal with sinful temptations when you recognize them?

Temptation is a constant presence. It comes from the world around us, from the devil & even within your own body. That doesn’t mean that temptation rule over you. Jesus Christ is the escape from temptations to sin. Since He took your sin upon Himself & you died to sin, how can you still live in it (Romans 6:1-2)? In the day of temptation, Jesus answers the prayer that He taught you, and He delivers you from temptation. After all, He is your Savior!

Let’s study this further. Read Genesis 4:1-8. What sins crouched at Cain’s door? What sins crouch at your door, tempting you? What emotions reveal your temptations to sin? What thoughts tempt you away from God’s will for you? Which actions in your life deny God?
