THE CHURCH'S ARCHITECTURE

Symbolically, the church is a ship bearing souls over the sea of life. The inspiration for the design came from Noah's Ark and also recalls the experiences of the apostles on the storm-tossed Sea of Galilee when Jesus stilled the wind and waves.

About First Lutheran

The First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ely, Minnesota, is a member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod, and is based on the Bible as the inspired and inerrant Word of God. We invite all who share these beliefs to worship with us and partake of the Lord's Supper. The congregation was founded by Finnish immigrants in 1890 and has an interesting history.
